Sunday School
We offer Sunday school classes for Preschool through 8th Grade on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM. God created kids with lots of different learning styles, and we try to honor those differences by teaching about God through singing, Bible stories, crafts, and other hands-on activities.
Sunday School for kids and youth typically runs from September through May. If you come on a Sunday morning, visit the Welcome Center right outside the sanctuary for help finding the class for your child’s age group.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer, FUMC’s adult and youth volunteers host Vacation Bible School for kids from across our community. VBS activities range from singing and dancing, to outdoor games, to crafts, to science experiments…all in the name of learning about God. See our Events Page for more information about VBS dates and registration information.
Children and Communion
United Methodists practice open communion, meaning that everyone who responds to Christ’s love is invited to the table, regardless of age or church membership. Children of any age are welcome to take Communion (we use grape juice, just fyi). We respond to Jesus differently throughout our lives, and while children may not understand Communion in the same way as many adults, they can absolutely experience Jesus’ love and respond to his invitation in their own way. We encourage parents to talk to their kids about Communion and help them decide how to participate (here’s a good resource). Talk with a pastor if you have any questions!
